The design of our childhood bedroom can have a lasting impact on us throughout our lives. Kids Rooms Fit for Princesses
Celebrity model and fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons recently created fantasy princess bedrooms for her daughters Ming and Aoki. These rooms were featured on Simmons' reality show Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane. The focal point of each room was a custom-built princess castle bed complete with towers, a faux stone finish and hand painted details.
The beds were designed and built according to Kimora’s specifications by a company called Sweet Dream Bed. Each girl was able to choose the theme, color and design for her bed after viewing pictures on the company’s website.
Aoki chose an elegant castle design featuring a marble finish with pink and gold leaf trim. Her bed is located at the top of the castle, accessible by steps that contain drawers for storage. A fun wooden slide provides a quick trip down. Aoki’s playroom and desk are in the bottom of the castle. Built-in shelves, cabinets and drawers provide plenty of room for all of Aoki’s toys and books. Brass hardware provides another elegant touch.
Older sister Ming decided on a traditional medieval castle with a stone finish and blue trim. Striking custom-carved unicorn doors enclose her playroom and built-in computer desk with drawers. Two grand staircases with drawers lead to her bed at the top of the castle. Ming requested and received lots of built-in storage for her books and stuffed animals. Ming’s castle is personalized with her name and Kimora’s Baby Phat Cat logo carved on a plaque over the door.
Ming and Aoki were overjoyed when they saw their finished castle beds, each customized to fit the taste and personality of its new owner. These playhouse beds feature a loft with a staircase and slide, built-in storage and interior lighting. The Victorian theme includes authentic gingerbread-style trim, scalloped siding, window boxes and Dutch doors. Each dollhouse is painted in bright cheery colors.
